Responsive Websites Display Properly on all Mobile Devices and are Google-Approved
A responsive website will adjust itself so that it will show up properly on all desktop computers, laptops, iPads, tablets, and smartphones. More and more people are getting online through mobile devices. If your website isn’t responsive or mobile-friendly, they will have to enlarge the font, scroll left and right – but more likely, they’ll leave your site out of frustration. A responsive website will encourage visitors to stay and view additional pages, then contact you immediately if your website has convinced them that you’re a good “fit.”
Some of the reasons Google recommends using responsive website design include:
- Making it easier for users to share and link to your content with a single URL
- Helping Google’s algorithms assign accurate indexing properties to the page
- The fact that it doesn’t need redirection for users to have a device-optimized view; and
- It saves resources when Googlebot crawls your site.
Google favors mobile-friendly websites in their search results. This means when “Googling” on mobile devices, websites that are mobile-friendly will be displayed first. Furthermore, a report released in May 2015 shows that the average adult spends three hours a day – more than half of total Internet usage time – on a mobile device.*
From the traffic statistics of our clients’ responsive, smartphone-friendly websites, we have witnessed anywhere from 10% to 40% of the visitors calling from their smartphones after visiting that client’s website on their smartphones.
